Investment Team

Kari joined UB Asset Management as Portfolio Manager in 2015. He manages open-ended and Private Equity forestry funds (AIF). Before that, Kari served in senior roles at Suomen Sijoitusmetsät, European Forest Institute, Forestry Development Centre Tapio, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, ThinkeyGroup, Pöyry, Maltora Properties and Stora Enso between 2005 and 2015. He was a Forest Policy Advisor and Economist at the United Nations in New York and Geneva from 2002 to 2005 after teaching at the University of Joensuu, where he earned his Ph.D. in Forest Economics in 2001.

Perttu has been a Portfolio Manager in the UB Real Assets team since 2018 and has worked within real estate both as an analyst and as a portfolio manager since 2002. He started his career in the OP Bank Group Pension Fund in 2000. He moved on to Finnish real estate manager Sponda in 2005, where he served in several roles, including as Director, Real Estate Disposals and Acquisitions until 2018. Perttu holds a M.Sc. in Surveying from Helsinki University of Technology.

Morten has been a Senior Advisor to the UB Nordic property fund since 2018. Morten has more than 20 years of experience in the real estate field. He has held senior roles in Dialog Finans AS as well as Dialog Finansrådgivning AS between 1995 and 2011. Between 2011 and 2018, Morten was Head of Real Estate at Oslo-based investment banking firm Pioner Kapital AS. Morten studied Banking, Corporate Finance and Securities Law at BI Norwegian Business School.

Jaakko has been an Analyst in the UB Real Assets team since 2016, working on research and modelling as well as due diligence to support the investment process and development projects. Before joining the UB Real Assets team Jaakko worked as a Process Improvement Analyst at Citycon Oyj, a leading Nordic property owner, manager and developer with more than EUR 4.4 billion in assets. Jaakko holds an M.Sc. in Real Estate Management from Aalto University.

Mikko works as a Portfolio Manager for the Nordic Property fund together with Jaakko Onali. Before joining UB, Mikko worked at Citycon where he served as Head of Transactions, taking care of all the real estate transactions on a Nordic level. Citycon is one of the leading commercial real estate owners in the Nordics, with a 4.4beur real estate portfolio. Mikko holds a M.Sc. degree in Economics from the Swedish School of Economics.

Lauri joined the UB Real Assets team in 2020 as an Analyst from Catella Group, a Stockholm-based, pan-European specialist in property investment and fund management, where he was an Asset Manager at the group’s Helsinki office between 2018 and 2020. Prior to that Lauri worked as a Project Manager at TA-Yhtiöt, a Helsinki-based residential property owner and developer from 2017 to 2018. Lauri holds a Master’s degree in Real Estate Economics from Aalto University.

Jyri is the CEO of UB Nordic Forest Management Ltd., which is the entity responsible for the management of United Bankers’ Private Equity (AIF) forestry funds. He was a Board Member of the Finnish Forest Economics Forum from 2017 to 2020. Jyri joined United Bankers in 2017 from PTT/Pellervo Economic Research, where he was a Forest Economist since 2010. Jyri holds a M.Sc. in Forest Economics and Marketing from the University of Helsinki and is undergoing doctoral studies in sustainability and renewable natural resources in University of Helsinki.

Pekka has founded and managed a range of Global Infrastructure funds at UB Asset Management since their inception, starting 2006. He has over 25 years of professional experience from the asset management business and the finance industry. Before joining UB Asset Management, he has worked as a buy side analyst and managed a number of stock portfolios and mutual funds over the years. Pekka holds an M.Sc. in Economics from Helsinki School of Economics.

Tuomas joined UB Asset Management as an analyst in 2013 and is currently Portfolio Manager in the Real Assets team, with a focus on systematic strategies. Prior to joining United Bankers Tuomas has worked in asset allocation, portfolio modelling, manager research and equity Portfolio Manager roles in the Asset Management arms of Aktia and Kaupthing since 2002. Tuomas holds an M.Sc. in Finance from Helsinki School of Economics.

Tomi joined UB Asset Management in 2012 from Aventum Fund Management, where he was responsible for Fund NAV calculations, portfolio analysis and reporting. From 2012 to 2017, he was Portfolio Analyst in the Real Assets team, covering listed infrastructure and listed real estate strategies. From 2018, Tomi has been Portfolio Manager, REIT Funds. Tomi holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.

Timo heads the institutional teams at UB Asset Management and is Chairman of UB Fund Management Ltd. He also serves as a board member of other UB group entities. He joined UB from Aventum Asset Management in 2012, where he was Managing Director from 2008. Timo held senior roles at Nordea Investment Management between 1995 and 2008 as well as Union Bank of Finland and Merita Bank from 1989. He holds an M.Sc. in Accounting from the University of Jyväskylä.

Nils is head of the Swedish Branch of UBAM since 2015. Prior to that, he held a senior sales role within the Fund Linked Derivatives team at Nordea Markets from 2006. He also held senior roles at Handelsbanken Capital Markets from 2000 to 2006 in the area of structured products and derivatives as well as in systems development at Scotia Capital Markets in Canada from 1997 to 2000. In addition he worked as an options broker Alfred Berg between 1995 and 1997 and a Project Engineer at Lemminkäinen (YIT) 1990–1993 in Finland and Germany. Nils holds a M.Sc. in Engineering from Helsinki University of Technology and a M.Sc. in Economics from Hanken School of Economics.

Dick is the Head of International Distribution at UB Asset Management. Before rejoining UB in 2022 he worked at Mandatum Life from 2019 to 2021 where he was advising wealth management clients with a special focus on alternative investments. Previously he worked almost 10 years in UB’s brokerage unit as Sales Trader and Head of Equities. Dick holds an M.Sc. in Finance from Hanken Svenska handelshögskolan.
